My friend Matt Flanagan and I watched this movie back in the ‘80s and then put the suffix “kata” after everything and beat on each other for the rest of the day. We’ve been friends since we were five. He’s a writer now, and it’s cool because we share the same pool of memories that inspires our work, but it comes out in very different ways.
